Lead accountant Stephen Solt is ready to help KDG’s clients make the most of their financial data. With an accounting services and a developing background, he can help clean books and migrate that data over into seamless new systems. Now that he’s 100 days into his time here with KDG, we checked in to see what he’s looking forward to most.
You’ve now surpassed 100 days at KDG! What is one lesson you’ve learned while you’ve been here?
I’ve learned that there is always a way to get something accomplished. Even with difficult accounting processes, or ones that are tedious, there is a way to improve it, even if it’s not something that the software by default does. We can build anything we need to!
What was your first impression of KDG?
The collaboration between team members even across departments is impressive. There’s a lot of support, and when it comes to the development of the accounting side, the possibilities are endless.
What is something new you feel like you’ve been able to add to KDG?
On the accounting side, I come from a very diverse background, so I can get to the overall big picture. Working with clients, I can understand concerns from both the accounting and the operations sides, get that cohesiveness between them, and translate that into the software.
What is something you’re working to improve on?
I’m really working on learning the developers’ terminology, and trying a little bit of the report building in Analytics. I’m hoping that will really build out our team’s capacity so we can work together to understand the end goals of client’s reports.
What’s something you’re working on right now that you’re excited about?
I’m really excited about working with Analytics, and building some basics in SQL. I’m expecting this will help guide me to working on some of the automations & customizations, in addition to the accounting.
How do you de-stress after a long week?
That I’ve got two answers for! I love playing with my one-year-old as much as possible, but aside from that, you’ll find me in the woods mountain biking or hiking! If I’m hiking, my little guy loves to come along! We have one of those backpack carries and he can’t get enough of it.
What’s your favorite snack in the KDG kitchen?
Trail mix! It’s really just M&M’s with obstacles!
What’s a project you’re working on outside of work that you’re excited about?
I’m currently in the process of renovating my new house! It’s a massive work in progress. Some fresh drywall, new trim, windows, flooring and almost everything. I’ve done as much as I can on my own and only hired contractors when necessary.
