A New Way to Work: What Google Cloud Next 2025 Taught Me About AI, Culture, and the Future

Last week, I had the privilege of attending Google Cloud Next 2025 in Las Vegas—a showcase not just of new technology, but of a radically new way of working. Over the course of the keynote and breakout sessions, one theme became crystal clear: AI is no longer an experiment or a side tool—it’s becoming a core part of how we work, communicate, and innovate.

As the CEO of KDG, a firm that partners deeply with Zoho, Microsoft, and Google Cloud, I approached the event with a broad and unbiased lens. Because we support clients across all three platforms—from cloud infrastructure to AI to ERP—we’re able to recommend and implement solutions based on true fit, not brand allegiance.

That’s why what I saw at Google Next was so exciting: Google Cloud has delivered an end-to-end, open, and extensible AI ecosystem that has the power to not only increase productivity, but to truly transform workplace culture.

AI Agents Will Reshape the Culture of Work

During the keynote, Google unveiled its new Agent Builder framework, including Agent Space, the Agent-to-Agent Protocol, and the Agent Development Kit. These tools enable organizations to build truly intelligent digital co-workers—AI agents that can automate complex workflows, reason across systems, and even collaborate with other agents in real time.

These aren't just upgraded chatbots. They're highly capable systems that can assist with research, generate insights, and take actions—all with access to enterprise data. This shift represents something much more profound than automation—it's about enabling employees to offload repetitive or analytical tasks and refocus on strategy, creativity, and problem-solving.

It's a step toward AI as a collaborator, not just a command line.

Vertex AI: The Brain of the Enterprise

At the center of this AI revolution is Vertex AI, Google Cloud's unified platform for developing, customizing, and deploying machine learning and foundation models.

What stood out most to me was the breadth of models available—from Gemini to third-party and open-source options—and how easily they can be integrated into existing business systems. Whether your data lives in BigQuery, SAP, or even Oracle, Vertex provides the tools to connect, ground, and operationalize AI at scale.

At KDG, we've been helping clients achieve similar goals through Zoho Zia and Microsoft Copilot. What excites us about Vertex is how well it plays with others. It supports true interoperability across ecosystems—a crucial factor in making AI real for diverse businesses.

Google Workspace: From Docs to Decisions

Google Workspace has long been known for collaboration, but now it's taking a leap forward with Gemini for Workspace. These new AI capabilities aren't just about writing emails or summarizing meetings—they're about transforming how people interact with information across their entire workday.

New features like AI-powered audio overviews, Workspace Flows for automating decisions, and intelligent data analysis in Sheets all show that Workspace is evolving into a decision support environment, not just a document platform.

It mirrors what we've seen from Zoho's BluePencil and Microsoft's 365 Copilot—but with an emphasis on native agent collaboration that's deeply integrated across every Workspace app.

Infrastructure Still Matters

To power all of this, Google announced significant advancements in infrastructure—led by TPU v7 "Ironwood", their most powerful AI chip to date, capable of 42.5 exaflops per pod. Combined with Google's AI Hypercomputer architecture, this is more than just hardware—it's a blueprint for AI at enterprise scale.

Google is also offering flexibility through products like Cloud WAN, Hyperdisk, and native multi-cloud identity integrations. This matters because modern enterprises—especially those we serve—don't live in a single cloud.

The ability to bring AI workloads to where your data already lives, whether on-premise, in another cloud, or in air-gapped environments, is a game changer.

Trust is Built on Security

Security is the non-negotiable layer of AI adoption, and Google addressed it head-on with the introduction of Google Unified Security (GUS). This converged platform brings together threat detection, automated triage, and policy enforcement into a single, AI-powered solution.

For clients in regulated industries—finance, healthcare, education—this offers the confidence that AI can be deployed without compromising security or compliance. It's also a great complement to the security tools offered through Microsoft Defender and Zoho Vault, allowing us to offer nuanced, risk-balanced solutions based on your unique needs.

Final Takeaway: The Future of Work Is Human-Centered AI

If there's one thing I left Las Vegas believing more than ever, it's this:

AI done right doesn't make people obsolete—it makes them exceptional.

We're not just building smarter systems. We're building more empowered teams. The culture of work is shifting from task execution to insight generation. From data wrangling to action. From isolation to augmentation.

At KDG, we've spent over two decades helping organizations adapt to change. As a proud partner of Google, Microsoft, and Zoho, we don't push products—we align strategy with reality. And the reality today is that AI is here—and the organizations that embrace it strategically will outpace those that don't.

Let's build the future of work—together.
