Strategic Plan 2026 marks an important step forward for KDG. While the planning event itself brought the team together internally, its purpose extends far beyond the organization. At its core, Strategic Plan 2026 is about sharpening how KDG supports clients, strengthens long-term partnerships, and makes decisions that create durable value over time.

As part of a leadership interview series following the event, we spoke with Kalyn DeHaven, AVP of Design & Marketing, to understand how the strategy and frameworks introduced during Strategic Plan 2026 will guide her teams and, more importantly, how those shifts will show up in client work moving forward.

Strengthening a Client-First Responsibility

“Strategic Plan 2026 didn’t change how I view our responsibility to clients. It clarified and strengthened it,” she shared. “Design and Marketing at KDG have always focused on advancing client goals, not just delivering assets or checking off internal milestones.”

What the Strategic Plan provided was a shared framework to ensure that responsibility is applied consistently across every engagement and decision. The introduction of the Triple Fit Strategy gives teams a common language to surface alignment, or misalignment, earlier in the process.

“Rather than relying on instinct or individual experience, we now have a clear lens to validate that the work we’re doing truly moves the client forward,” Kalyn explained.

For Design and Marketing, success continues to be defined not by outputs like pages launched or campaigns shipped, but by whether decisions support where a client is in their journey and the outcomes they are working toward. Strategic Plan 2026 reinforced the role of these teams as strategic partners who help clients make better decisions, identify tradeoffs sooner, and build toward lasting results.

Kalyn DeHaven, AVP of Design & Marketing at KDG, shares how Strategic Plan 2026 is guiding her team to build more flexible, client-focused marketing and design packages. The goal is simple: align work more closely with client priorities, adapt to where each organization is in its growth journey, and strengthen long-term partnerships through thoughtful, strategic execution. This is one of several leadership perspectives following KDG’s Strategic Plan 2026 event, where teams aligned around how to better support clients in 2026 and beyond.

Planning with Greater Intention

Viewed through the lens of Triple Fit, planning within Design and Marketing has become more intentional and more explicit.

“We are planning further upstream by grounding conversations in strategy before moving into solutions,” Kalyn said. “Instead of starting with what needs to be built or launched, we start by confirming the client’s current priorities, where they are in their broader roadmap, and what success looks like over time.”

This shift allows teams to recommend work that fits not just the immediate need, but the client’s larger trajectory. Triple Fit also helps teams pressure-test plans across multiple dimensions at once.

“We evaluate whether the work advances the client’s mission, whether it is the right work at the right time, and whether our teams are structured to deliver it well,” she noted. This approach helps identify misalignment sooner, reduce rework, and ensure recommendations are both strategic and realistic.

As KDG continues its Strategic Plan journey through 2026, this planning discipline keeps Design and Marketing focused on work that supports long-term partnership rather than short-term execution.

Improving the Client Experience Through Better Discovery

One of the most tangible changes coming out of Strategic Plan 2026 is a renewed emphasis on discovery at the start of engagements.

Design and Marketing teams will spend more time clarifying client priorities, tradeoffs, and success criteria before moving into execution.

“Rather than evaluating projects in isolation, we’re focusing on understanding the full business context,” Kalyn explained. “That includes how a request fits into the client’s broader strategy, what other initiatives are in motion, and where the work creates leverage or risk across the organization.”

This shift helps ensure teams are not solving the right problem in the wrong way or at the wrong time. For clients, it results in clearer alignment, fewer surprises, and recommendations grounded in a holistic understanding of their organization.

Practicing Stronger Partnership Through Role-Play

Trust sits at the center of effective design and marketing work. Teams put ideas into the world, test them with real users, learn from the results, and revise based on what they see.

“That process only works when clients trust our judgment and clearly understand why recommendations are made,” Kalyn said.

Strategic Plan 2026 reinforced the need to intentionally practice those conversations. Design and Marketing will use role-play and modeled behaviors to help teams practice explaining recommendations, presenting findings, and guiding clients through revisions clearly and confidently.

“By practicing these conversations internally, teams build confidence and consistency before having them with clients,” she added. For clients, this creates clearer communication, stronger trust in the process, and a better understanding of how iterative work leads to better outcomes.

“The team understands that trust is earned through clarity and follow-through. They’re capable of testing ideas, learning from results, and revising with purpose to drive better outcomes for our clients. We can’t wait to see what growth this brings in 2026!”

A Real-World Example of Triple Fit in Action

Kalyn pointed to marketing engagements where success came from moving beyond predefined deliverables and focusing on what would create the most value for a specific client.

“Marketing is not one-size-fits-all,” she said. “What drives success for one client may not matter for another, and rigidly adhering to a package can limit impact.”

In one client engagement, the team adjusted the work to align more closely with the client’s goals, constraints, and stage of growth rather than executing a standard set of activities as determined by the client’s original package plan. By curating the work around outcomes rather than outputs, the team prioritized the right initiatives and delivered measurable results.

“That experience directly reinforces the Triple Fit Strategy,” Kalyn explained. “It required aligning the work to the client’s goals, ensuring the effort fit where they were in their journey, and structuring our team’s time and resources to support that focus.”

Building on both that experience and the lessons from Strategic Plan 2026, Design and Marketing will introduce new marketing packages in 2026 with flexibility at their core. These offerings will allow teams to align more intentionally around each client’s goals and adapt as needs evolve.

Looking Ahead

As Triple Fit becomes more deeply embedded across KDG, clients should notice greater clarity, stronger alignment, and more intentional guidance throughout engagements. For Design and Marketing, that means planning with purpose, executing with context, and communicating with confidence.

Strategic Plan 2026 represents another step in KDG’s climb. By strengthening how strategy translates into daily work, teams are better equipped to support clients not just through the next initiative, but through the next stage of their growth.
